Reigning Costcutter Football League champions St Dogmaels won silverware before the start of the new season when lifting the coveted trophy in the tenth annual Jimmy James 7-a-side Memorial Tournament at School Field.

In the first semi-final Cardigan Town emerged 1-0 winners over St Dogmaels Youth and in the other semi-final St Dogmaels went through after a golden goal struck by Louis Harding.

An entertaining final saw Saints on top for most of the game and led via a Rhys Jones strike until the final moments when the Magpies equalised through Liam Doherty who was a regular for Penrhyncoch in the Cymru Alliance League last term.

Substitute Craig Williams became the hero for Saints when working a one-two with Adam Williams and finding the back of the net for the golden goal winner.

The late Jimmy James’s brother Justin presented the memorial trophy and individual medals.

Referees for the tournament were Dai Morris, Josh Townsend and John Rees with John Walters as MC.
