Seven days after an understrength Llechryd tasted defeat for the first time at the hands of Pembroke County Cricket League Division Two pacesetters Narberth, a full strength side came out on top by 101 runs against visitors Hook in a vital promotion battle at the RDM Oval.

Despite a comprehensive win John Curran and colleagues could not reduce the eight points gap at the top but more importantly a maximum 30 points enabled them to draw 41 points clear of Hook in third.

Back in the fold opener and skipper John Curran again led from the front as he made 64 and was well supported by Graham Keen with 25 as the Teifisiders posted 200-7.

Mathew Holder picked up two wickets for the visitors.

The Hook innings never took off as tight bowling and quality fielding kept the run rate down with seamer Graham Keen in great form as he took five wickets for 20 runs and Hook were dismissed 99.

Crymych triumphed for a fifth time in Division Four when the Preselimen beat Carew 3rds by three wickets at Glandy Cross.

In a Carew total of 145 top scorer was Alex Wilks with 67 as Rhodri Thomas snapped three wickets and there were two for Rhydian Thomas.

As Crymych got home for the loss of seven wickets Richard Thorne led the way with 52 and Rhodri Lewis was undefeated on 45.

In the same division Llechryd 2nds held out for an away draw against their Hook counterparts with Ollie Roberts the main man with a vital contribution of 89 runs and he was supported by Rob Mansfield who made 35.

Hook posted 230-4 with Gareth Owen not out 66 and Sam Rossiter making 31 and at the end the visitors were 183-5.
