NEWCASTLE Emlyn’s Tekki RS Karate Club entered the 53rd KUGB national tournament held in Leicester.
All competed at a high skill level. Connor Rees was third in his category and had tough fights. He was unlucky against a much bigger opponent.
Jess Palmer (3rd) always brings her top game and was unlucky not to be placed higher.
Two of the Emlyn dojo fought on different mats against fighters from England, Scotland and Ireland to eventually face each other in the final, where Bethany Nelson ended up the winner and Amy Enright was second.
Iestyn Kedward Jones, aged 10, has become Tekki RS newest black belt.
Iestyn, from Newcastle Emlyn, has trained since the age of six and regularly competes in all disciplines. He also trains with the Welsh squad.
