Bouncing back from the previous week’s defeat Llandysul sprang a nine-wicket win over South Wales Cricket Association Division One basement boys Gowerton at Tir-Dref and moved into third.

Electing to have first use of a good wicket Gowerton slumped to 38-3 before Lee Nicholas (35) and Bevan Daniels (48) steadied the boat, but the remainder of the batsmen could not follow suite and the visitors were all out for 146 in the 37th over.

Arfon Jones (3-23) and Joseph Swift (3-23) did the damage for the Teifisiders.

As Llandysul replied in positive fashion Meurig Jones and Gary Williams shared an opening stand of 70 with Jones making 38 and his partner hitting six boundaries in an undefeated 47.

Ashleigh Cox continued his recent good form with an unbeaten 44 which included four fours and two sixes as Llandysul sauntered to their second victory of the season.

After completing a win hat-trick Division Five leaders Llandysul 2nds went down to a two-wicket defeat against Llantwit Major Cavaliers in the Vale of Glamorgan and were joined at the top by Skewen 2nds.

The visitors made 150 for nine wickets in the allotted 40 overs with Daniel Thomas at number four hitting 38 which included seven boundaries.

Ieuan Williams was best of the home bowlers with figures of 3-27.

The Cavaliers went after the bowling from the start as skipper Gareth Tout (12) and Craig Thomas (46) shared in a half century opening stand and the target was reached in the 36th over for the loss of eight wickets.
