In getting off the mark in Division One of the South Wales Cricket Association at the second attempt Llandysul sprang a four-wicket win over visitors Briton Ferry Steel at Tir-Dref.

Having been put in Steel went along steadily with opener Lloyd Clement making 23 before falling lbw to Llywelyn Hughes while Steve Maddocks at number four contributed 49 as the visitors posted 155-7 in their allotted 50 overs.

Medium-pacer Hughes was best of the bowlers with figures of 4-23.

In reply the Teifisiders lost opener Bleddyn Morgan without troubling the scorers but Gary Williams at first wicket down hit four boundaries in a breezy 47, Ashleigh Cox made a stylish 54 which included two fours and three sixes and skipper Ben Edkins at number five was unbeaten on 32 as the target was reached in 43.3 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Llandysul 2nds also enjoyed success with a three-wicket away win over Skewen 2nds in Division Five. The home side made 155-7 and in reply Llandysul got the required runs for the loss of seven wickets.
