Amazing, fabulous, incredible were some of the superlatives after a quite astonishing sequence of play in the Cardigan & District Pool League.

There has never been anything so startling in the 33-year history of the league and perhaps in other leagues throughout the country.

It all happened in the three-a-side semi-final between Lamb A and Red Lion as the Lamb trio of Gary Murtagh, Peter Almond and Chris Truslove emerged 5-0 winners and in the process produced four eight-ball clearances on the trot.

Few could have envisaged what was to follow after the Lamb took the first game.

Gary Murtagh started the ball rolling by clearing the table, then Peter Almond did likewise, which was followed by Chris Truslove taking all eight balls and Murtagh completed a four-timer with his second clearance.

Afterwards Lamb Inn landlord Jamie Bowen said: β€œIt was something of extraordinary proportions. These players have taken pool in this area to a new level.”
