THREE rowers from Ceredigion Rowing Indoor Workout (CRIW) have once again impressed on the national stage.

The trio travelled to St Austell in Cornwall recently for the Tribute Indoor Rowing Championship, held in the Tribute Brewery.

Beri Tomkins, a year 7 pupil at Ysgol Bro Sion Cwilt at Synod Inn and a member of Aberporth Sea Rowing Club, came away with gold once more, to add to her gold medals from the Welsh Indoor, Welsh Schools Indoor, the British Rowing Indoor and the English Indoor championships.

Her event was a four minute-row which was two minutes longer than her usual event but that proved no obstacle to Beri, who rowed a personal best.

Che Owen, a year 10 pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron put in a marvellous performance to beat 12 other boys and came away with gold in a six minute timed race.

And to cap things off, Sam Owen - Che's mum - competed in the 40-plus women's race and grabbed herself a very creditable bronze medal in the 2k race.

CRIW will be hosting its own rowing event in Cardigan Leisure Centre on Saturday, March 30. You don't have to be a member of a rowing club or gym to enter. It will cater for ages 11-plus and there will be categories for both men and women.

It is a disability-friendly event and spectators are welcome.
