Teenage Cardigan swimmer Rhys Davies is the envy of friends after taking part in a two-week warm weather training programme in Thailand with the Swim Wales elite squad.
Rhys, aged 17, of Llangoedmor, spent a fortnight in Phuket and he was the only swimmer from west Wales to be in the squad.
Last summer the popular youngster finished second in the European Aquathlon Championship in Ibiza and third in the World Aquathlon tournament.
He is also a member of Aberporth Junior Rowing Club that finished third in the European Fixed Seat Championship in Italy.
It is not surprising that Rhys is making a name for himself on the sporting scene – his elder sister Nia is an established member of the Wales ladies rugby squad.
