THREE members of Newcastle Emlyn Tekki RS Karate club put on fine performances against fierce and experienced competitors at the European championships held in Serbia.
Wales squad members Lily Rees, Owen Topham and Bethany Nelson all benefited from the experience of coming up against Europe's best.
Lily was on fire in her age category but was unlucky to be disqualified due her opponent's nose being broken by a round-house kick. She managed to have three fights in the older category.
Bethany competed in both disciplines and put in strong performances but just missed out being on the podium by two points.
They will rejoin the Welsh squad next February to begin preparation for future events.
