A spirited effort by relegated Llechryd 2nds was not enough as the Teifisiders went down by 40 runs against promotion hopefuls Herbrandston in a Pembroke County League Division Three game at the RDM Oval.

Put in on a dampish wicket the visitors, who could pinch the runners-up spot from Pembroke Dock on the final day, found difficulty piercing the field and lost wickets against accurate bowling by Nick North, Peter Gregory and Ollie Roberts.

Leigh Marchant was the mainstay for Herb and he was supported by Gary Davies who was unbeaten on 22 as the visitors posted 136.

Despite 19 runs contributed by Ollie Roberts the home side struggled to make runs and it was left to Trevor Boston-Williams(29 not out) and Kelvin Holmes in the tail to put up real resistance, but when the latter was run out that was that and the homesters were all out for 96.

Paul Nicholas was best of the Herb bowlers with figures of 4-22.
