Another Costcutter Football League season gets underway tonight (Tuesday) with two Division One games, three tomorrow and a further three on Saturday.
Champions Lampeter Town will be without manager Terry Jones for the first time in 11 years – the popular boss stood down at the end of last season and has been replaced by Terry Witts.
A former captain, Witts was a stalwart defender with the club for some 20 years before hanging up his boots and becoming manager.
Asked what he hoped to achieve in the hot seat the affable Witts said: "The aim has got to be to try and retain the title, but I am not making any predictions because to be honest I think we overachieved last season.
"We have a squad of around 16, including a few players in their 30s who have returned and hopefully they will be available throughout the season.
"We'll take the games as they come and see what happens," he said.
The North Road champs face a tricky opener on Tuesday, August 28, at Llandysul, the Swallows having appointed Gwynfor Edwards of Llanelli as manager after the previous incumbent Chris 'Coco' Davies moved to the Carmarthenshire League.
Last season's runners-up St Dogmaels go to Llanboidy tonight with manager Steve Jerry Williams still waiting for his appeal against a ban of three seasons to be considered by the Football Association of Wales.
At Crannog the managerial reins have been handed to goalkeeper for many years Rhydian Morgan whose first game is at the Urdd Centre against Cardigan Town, yet another club with a new man at the helm after Justin Evans stepped
in to fill the vacancy.
J Emrys Morgan Cup holders and one of the top sides in mid Wales junior football last term Newcastle Emlyn will be hoping for a bright start tomorrow when making the short journey to Drefach Felindre to take on Bargod Rangers.
