A much-loved goose that was taken from St Davids city centre has been returned to its rightful owner after a local taxi firm spotted the bird at Newgale.

Geraldine the goose was safely returned after she went missing on Friday, April 19, after the taxi firm saw the appeal on the Western Telegraph.

The rocky waterfowl isn’t your normal goose and is unlikely to lay any eggs.

Made of painted stone, Geraldine has brightened up Nun Street since she and the Plant family moved in last year.

“Late last night I had a text from Double Cabs taxi company,” said owner Caroline Plant.

Tivyside Advertiser:

“They had read the Western Telegraph article and had spotted her on their taxi run.

“She apparently had been camping down Newgale beach.

“She had a wonderful time but decided whilst sat outside the toilets at Newgale that it was time to come home!

“Clearly she had been taken by some tourists who probably at the time had had a little too much to drink and then in the morning must have woken up with a large Goose in their tent.

“A big thank you to Double Cabs who drove all the way to St David’s last night at midnight with Geraldine. The public are amazing.”

Geraldine, who has been in the family for 20 years, is a frequent globe trotter, in the past, she’s even been sent on a trip to Australia before settling down in St Davids.

Owner Caroline Plant added: “Geraldine is very happy to be home.”
