PUPILS from Orange Class went to Pembroke Castle to perform a powerful play “The Angry Dragon and The Lost Islands”.

The play, was especially written for the event by Chloe of JC Productions with input from the pupils. It was based on a Pembrokeshire Folk Tale.

The pupils used drama as the medium to tell the tale which was a part of their Literacy and Welsh Identity studies.

The Tylwyth Teg/Fairy Folk had sent a plea, by way of a fire damaged letter, to the children for help in dealing with a very angry fire breathing dragon.

They then set out to think about why the dragon should be so angry and in turn how they could help him to be happy.

The dramatic surroundings of Pembroke Castle added a real sense of history to the performance which was played out to very appreciative family members.

Head Teacher Andy Williams paid tribute to Chloe and Class Teacher Mrs Jones for the hard work with the play and thanked The Welsh Arts Council’s “Lead Creative School” project for their support with the play.

The school also paid tribute to a pupil who helped raise money and support her dad who is undertaking a walk in the Arctic.

Morgan’s dad undertook the trek to raise money for Velindre Cancer Centre.

To help raise money, Morgan set about making and selling cakes in school.

She raised the superb amount of £106.

Mr Williams said: “Well done Morgan and thank you to all who supported her.”
