COULD you help to reunite the last pupils of a former village school? A residents association is hoping to bring them together for one last time.

Lambston School closed in 1952, but the Lambston Parish Residents Association is now trying to bring together its last pupils for a reunion.

“Does anyone have memories of the school that they could share, did you mother go there and keep a diary? Did your grandpa teach there? Was your dad the school handyman? Any memories would be welcome,” said Charles Mathieson, secretary of the residents association.

Anyone who has addresses of former pupils of the school, or the names of any ex-pupils who might not be listed, are asked to contact the Lambston Residents Association.

Those who might have photos of the school or of school classes is also asked to get in touch if they are willing to share them.

The school was established as Lambston Board School in 1879, it was built in Sutton village and run by a local board initially.

The first teacher was Sarah Nicholas, and the school building was sold and demolished in the 1970s.

The residents association has a list of 28 former pupils, some in New Zealand, Canada and Florida.

Even though some are far away, the residents association plans to send them an invitation so that they are aware of the event.

The reunion is on May 31 at Sutton Baptist Chapel Hall, it is being organised by the Lambston Parish Residents’ Association and Bethel Chapel Sutton.

Anyone with contact details of ex-pupils or teachers are asked to pass them on or mention this event to them: even if they are unable to come this year, the Lambston Parish Residents Association with notify them of future events.
