PEMBROKESHIRE Classic Car Club, has just been voted as one of the top ten local classic car clubs in the UK.

The competition, run by Practical Classics magazine in conjunction with Footman James classic insurance, and involved over 150 nominated regional and local clubs.

Two rounds have been successfully completed, with the second round being voted for by the general public from a shortlist of 30.

David Bond, chief executive of Footman James, said the competition was “celebrating the heroes at the heart of the classic car movement; the people on the ground doing remarkable things to keep the classic scene thriving”.

He stated that the public had been voting in their droves to whittle the list down to the 10 finalists.

The final judging will take place locally on either of the weeks commencing June 24 or July 1, when the judges visit all clubs in the top 10.

Peter Badham, of Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club, said: “We are really thrilled about making the top ten in the Practical Classics competition, it will help to put the classic car movement in south west Wales on the map and help to promote our beautiful county at the same time.

“We achieved the top ten by all members working together and encouraging as many people as possible to vote for the club and enable the club to grow stronger as a result.”

The club’s annual show for charity at Scolton Manor on Sunday, June 2, where the chosen charities are the Paul Sartori Foundation; Diabetes Wales, Tenby & district branch; and The Tanyard Youth Project, Pembroke.
