A Haverfordwest woman sent police on a 'wild goose chase' when she called to say she wanted to kill herself.

Sian Davies, of Cartlett, pleaded guilty to wilfully obstructing an officer in the execution of his duty when she appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, March 19,

Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, said: “It was obstruction by causing the police to go off on a wild goose chase.

“She rang the police on three occasions stating she was stressed and wanted to kill herself. She would not say who she was or where she was.”

Officers recognised Davies’ voice from a previous similar incident and spent some time searching, before locating her on January 16.

Mr Pritchard-Jones added: “Quite a lot of police time had been wasted.”

Mark Layton, defending, told the court that alcohol had been a factor of the offence.

“Miss Davies was struggling with some personal difficulties at that time. In the past few weeks there seems to have been a vast improvement.

“Her use of alcohol has been curtailed and she is no longer in a toxic relationship. Miss Davies is now single and moving on. She feels she is making good progress.”

Magistrates fined Davies £80 and ordered her to pay £115 in costs and a surcharge.

The chairman of the bench said: “You are obviously getting yourself back on track, which is good to see.”

Davies, 51, apologised to the court for her behaviour before leaving the dock.
