A man has died after his car left the road while travelling on the A40 in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).
Dyfed-Powys Police, said: "Dyfed-Powys Police were called just before 4.30am this morning, Thursday 7th February, to a report that a vehicle had left the A40 road near Canaston Bridge, Pembrokeshire.
"The male driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital but has sadly passed away.
"Next of kin have been advised and are being supported by specialist officers.
"The road was closed with diversions in place and reopened at 8.35am.”
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson had earlier said: “We were called today (February 7) at approximately 4.30am to reports of a road traffic collision on the A40 near Canaston Bridge, Narberth.
"We responded with two emergency ambulances, where one person was taken to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.”
A fire service spokesman said a male casualty was released from a vehicle, which had collided with a hedge.
Crews from Narberth and Haverfordwest attended, assisting paramedics with care of the patient, and made the vehicle safe.
Both lanes were closed following an incident at around 4.30am, and remained so until 8.30am while accident investigation work was carried out.

Police and firefighters attended the scene, and Pembrokeshire County Council assisted with diversions.
Some school bus routes, mainly to Haverfordwest High, were delayed due to traffic.
