"The road was closed with diversions in place and reopened at 8.35am.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson had earlier said:  “We were called today (February 7) at approximately 4.30am to reports of a road traffic collision on the A40 near Canaston Bridge, Narberth.

"We responded with two emergency ambulances, where one person was taken to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.”

A fire service spokesman said a male casualty was released from a vehicle, which had collided with a hedge.

Crews from Narberth and Haverfordwest attended, assisting paramedics with care of the patient, and made the vehicle safe.

Both lanes were closed following an incident at around 4.30am, and remained so until 8.30am while accident investigation work was carried out.
