Frustration led to a car left outside a Haverfordwest man’s home being sent for scrap.

Rhys Leslie Roy Davies, of Winch Lane, Haverfordwest, appeared before magistrates for sentencing on Wednesday, January 15, having pleaded guilty to a charge of fraud by dishonestly making a false representation at an earlier hearing.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones said Davies, 22, had arranged for scrap cars to be collected by local dismantlers and asked them to taken an additional car which did not belong to him on April 28.

He received £70 for the car, which did not have tax or a MOT was SORN off the road, and had been left in a parking bay assigned to his flat.

Davies claimed the car was only of scrap value, as it was an unroadworthy eyesore, covered in rust and he had been asking the owner to move it for two years.

The owner stated the 2000 Ford Puma was worth £450 and had £70 of items inside.

The court heard that Davies intended to repay the £70 he had gained.

Stuart John, defending, said: “It had been left there for at least two years and the defendant repeatedly asked the complainant to move it. He was having complaints from his neighbours about it.

“He did not want it there and out of frustration, and because it was convenient because other cars were being removed, he asked them to take this vehicle as well.”

Magistrates imposed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £140 compensation for the car and its contents, plus £105 in costs and a surcharge.
