FIREFIGHTERS from Haverfordwest have helped to pull a cow out of a slurry pit after it became stuck in the mud.

In a post on their Facebook page the team from Haverfordwest fire station said they had joined the fire service’s swift water rescue team from Milford Haven, as well as staff on the farm and a vet to rescue the animal on Saturday, January 19.

“Another callout today again highlighting the wide variety of incidents we attend, a cow was stuck in a slurry pit and was rescued safe and well by a Haverfordwest crew assisted by Milford Haven’s swift water rescue team with inflatable rescue mats, also with assistance from the farm staff and a vet,” said the Facebook post.

Last year during May, the fire service’s water rescue team used inflatable rescue mats to help with the rescue of two people who became stranded in the tidal mudflats of Llangwm Ferry Pill.
