A PEMBROKESHIRE beach is due to be checked over for the presence of the potentially toxic substance palm oil today (Monday), following the discovery of some on the shoreline yesterday.
A report of palm oil on Manorbier beach was posted to the Dog Friendly Pembrokeshire Facebook group, with a member later stating that the lump of the substance had been put on top of the bin near the beach car park.
It was not thought there was any more on the beach at that time.
Palm oil is not harmful to humans but can be fatal for pets - particularly dogs - if ingested.
Pembrokeshire County Council had not received any reports about palm oil on Manorbier beach when contacted by the Western Telegraph, but subsequently said that staff would check the area in case there were further deposits.
