A teenager turned his life around after being caught drug-driving, a court has heard.
Connor Frank Lorch, of Efailwen, Clunderwen, pleaded guilty to driving while over the controlled drug limit when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, January 8.
Vaughan Pritchard-Jones, prosecuting, told the court that police noticed Lorch’s VW Golf had a defective brake light as they followed him on the A478 Crymych to Pentre Galar road at 10.30pm on October 19.
Mr Pritchard-Jones said: “The officers could smell cannabis in the vehicle. He produced two grams of cannabis, and was dealt with by a police disposal for that. A roadside swab was positive.”
Jonathan Webb, defending, said there were no aggravating factors regarding Lorch’s driving.
“He had consumed cannabis some time ago before driving. Cannabis stays in the system for quite a long time, the effects expire fairly quickly, but the substance stays in your blood.
“This was a silly offence committed by a young man who, at the time, was in with the wrong crowd.”
Mr Webb added that the 19 year-old trainee mechanic had now turned his life around.
Magistrates fined Lorch £120 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.
He was banned from driving for 12 months.
