A new facility aiming to support people with mental health issues back to independent living will be developed in Haverfordwest.

National company Accomplish has been given permission by Pembrokeshire County Council planners to develop the former Paul Sartori offices on Haven Road.

At a meeting on Tuesday (December 11) approval was given for the planned new care home complex with a purpose built six bedroom building on land behind the charity’s former headquarters, a pair of one bedroom self-contained flats and change of use of the existing building along with alterations and extension.

Applicant Matthew Fullylove told the committee that the company supported thousands of people struggling to manage their mental health across the county as well as those with learning disabilities.

The vulnerable adults who would use the facility were likely to suffer from OCD, anxiety, depression, PTSD and panic attacks, he told the committee.

There had been concerns from one resident about the lack of detail about clients, but this had been dealt with, an officer stated.

Mr Fullylove added: “The care homes supported living referrals are for people doing well and ready to move on to independence.”

There would be accommodation for six people with mental health issues and eight with learning difficulties with around eight to 11 staff on site 24/7 depending on need.

Local member Cllr Tim Evans raised concerns about road safety, especially when residents made their way into town.
