Boia Gigs presents - Roots at the RAFA - November 30th 2018
BECCA MANCARI Live . Support from Ivan Moult 8pm
Nashville based Becca Mancari brings her band to St Davids for an exclusive Welsh date on
her European tour.
The gig on Friday, November 30, at St Davids and Solva RAFA Club is the latest Roots at the RAFA gig.
Becca will undoubredly be playing songs from her critically acclaimed debut album Good Woman – hauntingly lonesome affair with dust-cloud swells of electric guitar and don't-look- back lyrics.
She recalls: “I remember being 19, and I would go to this old warehouse where a
bunch of old-timers would be sitting around picking and drinking moonshine…and we are talking
straight up moonshine."
Good Woman evokes both the sound of city grit and the mountain music of her youth,.
Support is from Cardiff based Ivan Moult. He inhabits a curious, gentle space set between the 1970s folk/blues tradition and modern, confessional lyricism.
Moult released his second LP, Longest Shadow in March on Bubblewrap Collective.
Ivan is set to release his third studio
album in 2019.
Boia Gigs is a ‘pop up’ musical promotional venture by St Davids locals Steve Prior and Rob Marsh.
Both have long backgrounds in live performance and stage production and have a desire to put St
Davids on the map as an international touring venue. Roots at the RAFA is the latest twist on this
journey, utilising the St Davids & Solva RAFA club in their 50th year.
It transforms the venue into a musical roots club for the night with darkened walls, professional lighting, bar, and an unrivalled quality of sound provided by StudiOwz.
They have now showcased ten international artists including Canada’s Joey Landreth, John Blek from Ireland, The Hot Seats, Vivian Leva from Virginia and homegrown Canadian bluegrass from The Slochan Ramblers to name a few.
