GIANT illuminated sea creatures will swim down Cardigan High Street next month as part of Cardigan's Giant Lantern parade.

This year's parade, organised by Small World Theatre, will take place on December 7.

The event this year will be celebrating Visit Wales' Year of the Sea; expect hundreds of small boat lanterns sailing alongside large fish lanterns and music and merriment along the way.

The Parade will follow Cardigan's High Street, go down St Mary's Street along The Strand and finish in the grounds of Cardigan Castle.

Small World Theatre's sea monster Cragen will make a special illuminated appearance on the River Teifi below Cardigan Castle, appearing opposite The Strand to mark the end of her magnificent clean seas tour. Those who are part of the parade will have an opportunity to pause and view Cragen before they continue into the Castle grounds.

In the castle grounds there will be an abundance of supplied by Kitchen 1176. Expect a traditional hog roast, hot dogs and vegetarian chick pea and roast pepper burgers. The restaurant will also offer hot chocolate, festive mulled wine other hot drinks and a bar.

There will also be fire jugglers and a fabulous firework finale, sponsored by Cardigan Town Traders.

The lantern parade and lantern making workshops have been funded by a grant from the Big Lottery Fund and Tesco Bags of Help.
