Dear Editor

The front page article (and page 7) of last week's TivySide which related to two daughters of American servicemen stationed at Alrbo Castle, St Dogmaels during 1944 reminded me of a letter from another American lady which appeared in your paper a couple of years ago.

This lady's letter requested further information and/or photographs of her father's time at Albro Castle during this period following her visit there. As a native of the village I responded and we communicated for a short period during which she forwarded me photographs of her father with a few colleagues in combat exercises at Mwnt.

Now in my 80th year I still have evocative memories of a group of us 10 year old kids assembling at the lane junction on the bottom of the village High Street greeting these Americans as they made their way to Cardigan and cadging cap badges and chewing gum from these generous GIs.
