Both lifeboats from New Quay Lifeboat Station were launched over two days, having to assist kayakers and paddleboarders in difficulty.
Both lifeboats were launched on the afternoon of Saturday, July 23, during a multi-agency operation to reports of multiple people in difficulty on kayaks near Penbryn.
A spokesperson from New Quay Lifeboat Station said: “Cardigan RNLI and HM Coastguard Rescue helicopter had also been paged.
“However, soon after launching we were stood down as they had all made it safely back ashore in Llangrannog.”
The lifeboat was also launched on the afternoon of Sunday, July 24, to reports of two paddleboarders on rocks near Llangrannog.
MORE NEWS
The lifeboat station spokesperson continued: “They had paddled out but could not get back into the beach due to the strong wind.
“One of the paddleboarders had been able to clamber up the cliff and raise the alarm with the lifeguards on the beach in Llangrannog.
“A lifeguard then paddled around to find the casualty and wait for the lifeboats to arrive.
“In the strong south westerly wind our inshore lifeboat made good speed down the coast and was first on scene. Locating the casualty and the lifeguard the inshore lifeboat was able to veer down near the rocks to pick them up and take them back to Llangrannog beach.
“On scene were also New Quay Coastguard and our all-weather lifeboat, the relief Mersey class lifeboat, that stood by and then escorted the inshore lifeboat safely to New Quay.”
