A CARDIGAN town councillor has branded the site of Cardigan’s new Integrated Health Centre at Rhodfa'r Felin as ‘utterly ridiculous’.

Cllr Marilyn Farmer told colleagues that a lack of bus services to the facility meant a lot of people were struggling to keep doctor’s appointments.

She was speaking after outlining the problem to Lynda Bridgwood, Hywel Dda University Health Board’s Patient Support Co-ordinator.

“We have patients who just cannot get up to the centre – and cannot get to see a doctor either,” she said.

“Positioning the health centre up there was utterly ridiculous – they should have kept it down in the town.”

Cllr Sian Maehrlein considered it ‘a shame’ that a scheme could not be introduced whereby volunteers could operate a shuttle bus service to and from the centre.

Cllr Clive Davies said such a bus scheme was operating in Aberporth.

Cllr Farmer pledged to follow up her initial response with another email requesting a more regular bus service to the health centre.
