CARDIGAN’S River and Food Festival will return on Saturday, August 20 following a two-year hiatus caused by the Covid pandemic, it was confirmed this morning.

Menter Aberteifi chief executive Julian Beynon-Lewis told the Tivy-Side that the community regeneration group were ‘extremely pleased’ to be staging the event for the first time since 2019.

But he revealed that organisation of this summer’s festival began very late due uncertainty over Covid-19 regulations and funding.

“We would normally start in January, but this year we’ve had less than 12 weeks to get it all done,” he said.

“Fortunately we have been inundated by Welsh food and drink producers who are very keen to return to our festival, which is now in its 22nd year and we have a very experienced team running the event.

“All of our exhibitors are based in Wales and represent some of the finest Welsh food and drink producers.

“As a way to showcase new businesses, the first five new food and drink businesses (established in the last two years) can apply for a 50 per cent discount on the exhibitor fees.”

The festival will open at 10am and close at 5pm on Saturday, August 20.

Further details of exhibitors and entertainments will be announced later.
