Costcutter Ceredigion League Round-up / by JOHN ADEY

St Dogmaels took centre stage in the Costcutter Ceredigion League division one with a stunning 6-1 win at Felinfach, to move within five points of leaders Llanboidy, with three games in hand.

The Teifi Estuary villagers led 2-1 at the break and pulled away during the second period, with the impressive Adam Williams finishing with four goals.

Chris Morgan had fired the visitors ahead early on and although Owain Evans was on target for the homesters, Saints dominated the second period with that man Williams firing home three free kicks, and Rhys Jones also on target.

Front-runner Louis Harding was also a handful for Saints, while Morgan and skipper Jason Williams were towers of strength at the heart of the defence.

Llandysul were blown away 6-2 on their own stamping ground by Ffostrasol, who led 3-1 after the opening 45 minutes with goals from skipper Gwynfor Bowen, with a brace, and Dion Phillips.

Jesse Clayton netted for the homesters and although Lewis Jones got a second for them after the interval, Dion Phillips netted twice to complete his hat-trick and Cian Edwards also scored.

New Quay turned in another fully-committed showing, but the Seasiders went down 4-2 against visitors Crannog at Parc Arthur.

Speedy striker Rhys Davies led the way for the Llangrannog men with a well-taken hat-trick and the other goal was netted by Daniel Robinson. Glenn Baldwin bagged a brace for the Seasiders.

In League Cup action, Llanboidy were forced to pull out all the stops against visitors Lampeter at Cae Dandre before going through 5-4 on penalties.

Gethin Scourfield and Evan Jones netted for the league leaders, but goals by Gethin Hunter and Rhys Bowden ensured it went to extra-time.

Evan Jones netted again for Llanboidy, and Hunter for Lampeter to force penalties, where Jack Griffiths was the hero for the home side when netting the winning spot kick.

In Costcutter division two action, Mathew Evans scored the winner as Bargod Rangers banked maximum points in a narrow 1-0 win over newcomers Pencader United, whilst strikes by Leighton Daniel and Keelan Noble gave visitors Aberaeron Reserves a 2-1 win over Crannog Reserves, who had netted their goal through Carwyn Brown.

In division three Daniel Daves netted the winner as Ffostrasol Reserves won 1-0 against Llanboidy Reserves.

In Mid Wales League West, Abermule made light work of Newcastle Emlyn as a Matthew Goodman own goal and a Dave Anthony strike gave the villagers an interval lead, before Adam Putson and a second from Anthony sealed a 4-0 win.

Jamie Owen netted twice as Aberaeron completed a 2-1 win at home to Forden United who scored through Jake O'Donnell, whilst Rhodri Jones was the match winner as Tregaron Turfs won 1-0 away at Tywyn Bryncrug.
