COLEG Ceredigion principal Dr Andrew Cornish has congratulated students on their participation and medal wins at the WorldSkills UK final.

The level of student achievement at the competition resulted in Coleg Ceredigion being in the top 10 league table of organisations.

Celt John won gold in the confectionery and patisserie category, Natasha Ellis won silver in the culinary arts category, Daniel Davies won silver in the restaurant service category, Dion Evans won bronze in the joinery category and Steffan Thomas was awarded a highly commended in the joinery category.

The college invited its competitors to the live online streaming of the medal ceremony hosted by TV presenter Steph McGovern where winners were announced.

WorldSkills is part of a global movement which supports young people across the world via competition-based training, assessment and benchmarking with national teams aiming for world-class standards in a biennial skills Olympics.

Coleg Sir Gâr and Coleg Ceredigion vice principal Vanessa Cashmore said: “I am phenomenally proud that Coleg Ceredigion ranked eighth in the UK, it is a testament to the hard work by learners, employers and staff.”
