THE Cellar Bards are coming back -- again!

The next spoken word event at Cardigan’s Castle Café Cellar Bar - the first since February 2020 - is an open-mic special featuring performances from a range of talented local writers of poetry, short fiction and novels.

After a false start early in November, because the venue had to close when many staff had to self-isolate for a week, the Cellar Bards will be back on Friday, December 10, in the Castle Café Cellar Bar, Cardigan SA43 1HU.

Cellar Bards organiser Jackie Biggs, said: “This is our first spoken word live event since February 2020, and it’s so good to be coming back live in the room.

“It was really disappointing to have to postpone our comeback last month, these are difficuIt times as we all know. But it will make the comeback event even more special.

“It is always a pleasure to listen to the work of our talented local writers on the open mic.

“They never fail to bring a range of surprising work on a variety of topics ranging from politics to nature and environment to some very personal life events, much of it delivered with great humour.”

Co-organiser Dave Urwin added: “Everyone is made welcome on our open mic nights and as always we provide the opportunity for writers of all ages and styles to come and read or perform their work in a friendly and relaxed environment.

“We are not exclusively spoken word, as there is always room for a song or two as well.”

Open mic spots are available for writers of poetry, short stories, micro-fiction and novels (max five minutes each).

Just put your name down at the door if you want to read. Or come along to listen to a great variety of spoken word performances.

Doors and the bar open at 7.30pm, the event starts at 8pm. Entry is £3 on the door.
