Newcastle Ladies' hockey team shared the spoils in a hard-fought 1-1 draw away against Brecon Firsts at the weekend.

Brecon, sitting in the middle of the table, provided tough opposition and they fought back well after falling behind.

After several missed penalty corners, Emlyn opened the scoring following a deflection off the home goalkeeper.

The ball was slotted in by Sara Patterson, with help from Rosie Hughes and player of the match Sioned Davies.

Brecon hit back before half-time as a fast break down the centre caught Emlyn off-guard to make it one apiece.

The second half was a real battle, with possession constantly changing hands, and the Brecon defence holding firm.

With Ellie Lloyd, Hafwen Jenkins, Sioned Davies, Heledd-Mai Lloyd and Caryl-Haf Lloyd also solid, it ended all square.

On Saturday, Emlyn take on top of the table Clwb Hoci Cymric at Ysgol Bro Teifi (due to the ongoing issues with the astro turf at Cardigan).
