Having notched a narrow Costcutter Ceredigion League division one win over Lampeter Town, reigning champions St Dogmaels doubled up with a 2-0 win on their rivals’ own North Road stamping ground in round one of the Cwpan Coffa Dai Dynamo Davies knockout.

Although the score may suggest a closely-fought affair, that was not the case as Saints produced some scintillating football that left their opponents beaten long before the final whistle.

To be fair a battling Lampeter gave it their best shot and continued to pass the ball around, despite having to defend for lengthy parts of the 90 minutes.

Saints manager Steve Jerry Williams and assistant Wayne Jones were absent, but they would surely have been proud of the way their charges turned in a first-rate performance.

Front-runner Lewis Williams, aged 17, showed his potential and capped a fine display with the first goal when cutting inside and unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net.

That’s how it remained until the second half when the visitors doubled their lead through skipper Jason Williams, who moved up for a corner and powered home a header.

In the only division one game played, third-from-bottom Llandysul were held 3-3 at home by bottom side New Quay, who picked up their first point.

Llandysul must still be kicking themselves for letting matters slip after leading by three goals, before crumbling and conceding three goals, the final strike in the last minute of the game.

Josh Martin, with two well-taken goals, and Osian Mason gave the homesters a commanding lead at the interval, but the Seasiders fought back with goals from Jac Chetwynd and a David Evans penalty – and Ben Young netted a last minute equaliser to snatch a point, with Zac Morgan being sent off.

In Costcutter League division two Aberaeron Reserves and their Llandysul counterparts shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Bryn Evans was on target for the Black and Ambers, but Kevin Poulton's goal earned a share of the spoils for Llandysul Reserves.

Osian Thomas scored a hat-trick as St Dogmaels Reserves won 5-3 at Aberporth, with Lian James and Joe Wood also scoring.Mikey John, Daniel Nichol and Joel Tanner scored the replies.
