Costcutter Ceredigion League division one

Crymych were promoted to the Costcutter Ceredigion League division one in their first season – and the Preseli men are appear to be taking the top flight by storm.

The unbeaten high-flyers continued on the straight and narrow with an impressive showing in brushing aside visitors Crannog 6-1.

Leading marksman Sion Vaughan stole the limelight with a well-taken hat-trick, but would be first to concede that this was another all-round team performance.

Vaughan, Rhodri George and Ifan Davies put the homesters out of sight before the interval, and they added to their tally during the second period with goals from Vaughan to complete his hat-trick  and a second strike from George.

Crymych’s neighbours Llanboidy sit proudly on top of the league after the west Carmarthenshire side caused a few surprises in emerging 3-0 winners against Lampeter Town in a top of the table clash on their opponents’ own ground.

The visitors led 2-0 after the opening 45 minutes, with their goals scored by Rhys Jenkins and Tomos Rogers.

Llanboidy continued to assert themselves in the second half and after Frazer Wyatt netted a third goal there was no way back for Town.

Ffostrasol came up trumps with a 3-1 win over visitors Dewi Stars at Troedyrhiw Park, and as it stands Wanderers are in joint second place with Lampeter Town on 16 points, five behind the pacesetters Llanboidy.

The home side led by a solitary goal at the interval, with a real beaut from midfielder Alun Bowen, whose left-footed volley flew into the net.

During the second half Alun Howen’s brother Marc doubled his side’s advantage and Cian Edwards then put the hosts out of sight.

Promoted New Quay lost their seventh game on the bounce when going down 6-0 against champions St Dogmaels, and unless there is a change of fortune at Parc Arthur the Seasiders’ stay in division once could be brief.

It was plain sailing for the Saints, who dominated throughout, and with more steadiness in the final quarter of the field they could have won by a bigger margin.

Louis Harding bagged a brace of goals, and the other marksmen were Rhys Jones, Billy Myers, Adam Williams  and Lewis Williams.

Costcutter Ceredigion League division two

NEWCOMERS Llechryd are seemingly in a class of their own in the Costcutter Ceredigion League division two, after their 9-0 demolition of visitors Crannog Reserves made it six wins on the trot.

Front-runner Gary Leonard-Davies led the way for the home side with four goals, Luke Grant bagged a brace and the other goals came courtesy of Josh Grota, Luke James-Raymond and Dion Davies.

After a thrashing at the hands of Brecon Corries in the Emrys Morgan Cup the previous week, Maesglas returned to the second division and emerged 5-1 winners over Llandysul Reserves.

Jordan Harrison was on fire for the visitors with a hat-trick, and also on target were Tom Gardner and John Rees. Peter Thompson was on target for Llandysul.

The other league newcomers Pencader United are finding it tough going at this early stage, and the Carmarthenshire villagers went down 2-1 to St Dogmaels Reserves at School Field.

Justin James and Jordan Owen netted for the Teifi Estuary villagers with Sebastian Davies-Wigley scoring the reply goal for the Reds.

Costcutter Ceredigion League division three

Llanilar Reserves are three points clear at the top of the Costcutter Ceredigion League division three, despite being held to a goalless draw at Felinfach Reserves.

Second-placed Llanboidy Reserves closed in as goals from Tomos Harvey, Dion Morgan and an own goal sealed a 3-1 win at Newcastle Emlyn Reserves, who netted through Morgan Lockton.

Gethin Thomas scored twice as Ffostrasol Reserves won 5-2 at Llechryd Reserves, with Dyfrig Davies, Bleddyn Jones and Steffan Thomas also on the scoresheet. Liam Jones and Max Evans hit the net for Llechryd Reserves.

Meanwhile Cardigan Town Reserves took the spoils with an entertaining 3-2 home win over Maesglas Reserves.

Dewi Baum and Dion James scored for Cardigan, with Deiniol Sion and George Allerton netting for Maesglas.

Costcutter Ceredigion League Cup

In round two of the Easter Monday Costcutter League Cup visitors Felinfach of division one were made to pull out the stops before going through after a 2-1 win over Bargod Rangers of division two at Parc Puw.

The Aeron Valley side led through a goal netted by striker Aled Davies at half time and midfielder Joe Jenkins got their second goal during the second half, with William Bennett replying.
