OVER £8,000 was raised for a Pembrokeshire charity in a go-karting extravaganza.
After a total of 9,212 laps and thanks to the hard work and generosity of the teams and everyone who donated, the 2021 West Wales Karting Charity Challenge raised £8,222 in aid of The Paul Satori Foundation.
Toni-Marie Dorkings who attended all the races, said: “We are always grateful for the generosity of all the teams, sponsors including Port of Milford Haven and of course the volunteers who attended the races. Without whom we would not be able to put on this spectacular race.”
The first week saw 19 teams battle it out over three nights for a place in the final.
Through the course of the week we saw some of the closest racing ever seen with nights two and three having lead changes in the last minutes.
Ultimately it was AB Security & Electrical, Riverlea Whitland & Becauseracecarbox who made it through to the final.
West Coast Roller Doors managed to set the fastest time of the week with a blistering 20.5 second lap.
Week two started with a bang with Rhos Cottage Dental having to fend off Midway Motors for the win on night four with plenty of action going on behind and strategy taking a key role in the first half of the race.
Joining them in the final after a tricky night five on a damp track was Folly Farm who managed to hold off Kingsmoor Garage on their return to the Charity Challenge.
William Owen, Fast Track Driving, Pure West Radio and Puffin Produce managed to slip and slide their way to the chequered flag not far behind.
The Grand Final saw defending champions KP Thomas make their first appearance of the event and they got off to a good start in second place.
The lead swapped back and forth between themselves and Rhos Cottage Dental with AB Security & Electrical falling away as the race went on.
Riverlea were locked in a race long battle with Becauseracecarbox whilst Folly Farm got involved with the leaders as they came through.
Ultimately it was Rhos Cottage Dental who took the overall win and were crowned 2021 West Wales Karting Charity Challenge Champions.
West Wales Karting ssaid: “Once again a huge thank you to all the teams and everyone else who helped to make this such a memorable and enjoyable event and we hope to see you all again soon.”
