THE Costcutter Ceredigion League division one clash between Llanboidy and Lampeter Town at Cae Dandre was a good advert for local football with six goals and an abundance of excitement.

In emerging 4-2 winners visitors Lampeter produced their performance of the season so far, which augurs well for the campaign ahead.

Jason Jones fired Town ahead in the first quarter and fellow front-runner Liam Jones doubled the advantage before the interval.

When Jason Jones hit his second goal and Lampeter’s third it appeared all over, but the homesters refused to throw in the towel and bounced back with well-worked goals by striker Ifan Phillips and Dafydd Jones.

The Carmarthenshire outfit failed to complete the comeback, however, as the visitors netted a fourth goal through Liam Jones which wrapped up the points.

Their fourth win enabled Lampeter to draw two points clear at the top of the league.

New Quay must surely have felt they were on course to pick up their first points of the term when leading visitors Llandysul 4-1 with just 15 minutes remaining.

But after having a player sent off for an alleged stamping offence the Seasiders saw their position change dramatically as the visitors hit four goals without reply to run out as 5-4 winners.

Oliver Edwards bagged a brace of goals for Quay, with Dave Evans and Jack Chetwynd also on target, but Osian Evans netted for Llandysul, before the Swallows staged a dramatic comeback.

Centre forward Simon Davies scored with a header from a corner, Osian Evans netted the visitors’ third goal, Josh Martin hit the fourth and substitute Dean Jones headed the winner.

Crannog and visitors Crymych shared four goals in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Urdd Centre in Llangrannog.

Dan Robinson fired the hosts ahead and Mike Glover got a second goal, with Rhodri George halving the deficit before the interval

Rhodri George equalised early in the second half, and that’s how it remained with the sides sharing the spoils.

In midweek, Louis Harding had scored a hat-trick as St Dogmaels staged a late comeback to draw 4-4 with Crymych, with Lewis Williams also netting for the Saints.

The Preseli men led 4-2 until the last 10 minutes of the game through goals by Rhodri George, Gethin Evans, Ifan Davies and own goal.

Division two newcomers Pencader United got their first point when holding visitors Maesglas to a 1-1 draw.

Alfie Morgan netted for Pencader and Jordan Harrison was on target for the Cardigan-based side.

Elliot Wigley scored a hat-trick for St Dogmaels Reserves, but they lost 4-3 at home against Aberaeron Reserves, who took the spoils through goals from Bryn Evans, with a brace, Endaf Williams and Steffan Jones.

In midweek, St Dogmaels had lost 4-0 at home to Llechryd, who took the spoils with goals from Cory Leonard-Davies, Jac Blackford, Alun Williams and Luke James-Raymond.
