Newcastle Emlyn made their gruelling 150-mile round trip to take on Barmouth and Dyffryn United worthwhile in the ER Jenkins Cup as they notched a 3-1 win at Wern Mynach.
Goals from Peter Almond, Jordan Owens and Tomos Green won the match for the Reds, with Oliver Quinlan netting a late consolation.
Both sides had ended the match with 10 men, following the second half dismissals of Almond and the home side’s Ryan Williams.
Tregaron Turfs meanwhile opened their ER Jenkins Cup campaign with a 6-2 home win over Aberaeron.
Man of the match Daniel Owen led the scoring with a stunning five goal haul, with William Williams also finding the net, whilst the visitors replied through Chris Alldritt and Ryan Davies.
Elsewhere in the competition, Tywyn Bryncrug were 3-1 winners at home to Dyffryn Banw with goals from Ben Holt, Kevin Evans and Nick Williams, cancelling an opener from Joe Evans.
This weekend's Mid Wales League West action will see Aberaeron play hosts to Tywyn/Bryncrug, whilst Newcastle Emlyn entertain Dyffryn Banw, and Tregaron Turfs welcome Barmouth and Dyffryn United.
