At last, we seem to have some light at the end of the tunnel, which we can all agree can only be a good thing.

However, regardless of the joy most of us night be feeling, there are undoubtedly key workers out there who are still battling the virus on some fronts, and still recovering from their work over the last year, having made amazing sacrifices and offering huge dedication in the fight against Covid-19.

Called upon to give more than many of us can ever imagine, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, carers, volunteers and so many more everyday heroes have shown compassion, dedication and selflessness, heading out every day to confront the virus, while many of us stayed at home.

The phenomenal response we’ve seen already for the 2021 Health and Care Awards since we launched it earlier this year has been quite something.

We have had a wonderful response from readers, with nominations for health and care heroes pouring in.

The response has, in fact, been so overwhelming that we have taken the decision to extend the Western Telegraph Health and Social Care Awards to cover the whole of west Wales, to give as many of our readers as possible the chance to nominate a health and care hero for one of our amazing awards.

With seventeen awards up for the taking, from GP Practice of the Year to the Care Home Worker Award, nominations across all categories are welcome, so why not celebrate as many heroes as you can by nominating in as many categories as you wish.

So if you are a reader of the South Wales Guardian or the Tivyside Advertiser you too can tell us who you would like to win one of our amazing awards – all the details are here: westerntelegraph.co.uk/healthandcareawards

To give our readers an opportunity to nominate their choice we are extending the closing date to 22nd September 2021.
