THE family of late Cardigan musician Richard Jones have paid him an emotional tribute following yesterday's announcement of his death.
The 65-year-old co-founder and frontman of rock and pop legends Ail Symudiad passed away just a month after his younger brother, Wyn, succumbed to pancreatic cancer.
Having formed the band in 1978 the brothers went on to see Ail Symudiad become national institutions.
In a tweet posted last night, Mr Jones’s grieving family said their hearts were ‘forever broken’.
“Thank you Richard/Dad for everything - our world was his world,” they said.
“Thanks to everyone for the messages - Ann, Dafydd and Osian x”
A spiky power pop outfit who went on to develop their own highly distinctive style, Ail Symudiad’s initial influences included the Clash and the Buzzcocks.
Although the line-up changed constantly over the years, Richard and Wyn remained the band’s nucleus.
The pair also set up the hugely-influential Fflach Stiwdios, helping to nurture successive generations of Welsh musical talent.
In 2014 Wyn and Richard celebrated 35 years of making music and running Fflach.
