ABERPORTH has been donated a set of oil spill kits by Cardigan Bay Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) to be used in the event of an emergency spill.
County councillor Gethin Davies, who accepted the kits from FLAG co-ordinator Alison Kinsey, said: “We obviously welcome anything that can assist our area’s coastal villages and help local fishermen in their work.”
He added that the kits would be stored at the top of Dyffryn Beach.
A private/voluntary and community/public sector partnership, FLAG is funded through the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and Welsh Government.
The overall aim of the Cardigan Bay FLAG is to promote the sustainable development of fisheries communities and areas.
