Llechryd went down by 161 runs at Lawrenny in division one of the Pembrokeshire Cricket League and remain bottom of the table, 22 points from safety.

With seven league games remaining, a first win would be a real boost this weekend as second from bottom St Ishmaels visit the RDM Oval.

Having first use of a well-prepared strip, Lawrenny made hay while the sun shone on the banks of the Cleddau and amassed a more than useful total of 247 for the loss of nine wickets.

Kurtis Marsh was the batting star for Lawrenny as he drove, pulled and hooked in a fine innings of 93, with support being provided by James Buckle (38), James Phillips (36), Ryan Morton (25) and Kyle Marsh (17).

Dave Dunfee (4 for 45) and Dafydd Lewis (4 for 21) took four wickets apiece.

As the Teifi Valley villagers replied they lost wickets cheaply and found it difficult to come to terms with medium-pacer Ryan Morton who took six wickets for nine runs and Jamie Lewis picked up 3 for 22.

Joseph Dow made an unbeaten 25 for Llechryd, but the only other batsman to reach double figures was Graham Keen with 11.

Meanwhile Llechryd Seconds and Crymych were both winners in division four of the Pembrokeshire League on Saturday.

Hosts Llechryd Seconds posted 186-6, and in reply Hook Seconds made 168 for 6, losing out by just 18 runs.

Skipper and opener Ollie Roberts was the mainstay for the Teifisiders with a well-compiled innings of 59 and was given support from Aled Bidder (40). Andrew Thomas got three wickets for the visitors.

Jack Phillips (39), James Phelps (36) and Lee Morgan (31) made a brave effort to overhaul the Llechryd total but they finished just short.

Crymych posted 92 for 5 in a five-wicket win over Llanrhian Seconds, who were all out for 91. Rhodri Owen (32) top-scored for Llanrhian and Karl Davies contributed 17, but wickets fell to Elis Williams (3-10) and Stef Williams (3-10), before Preseli made it, with Richard Thorne top scoring with 46.

In division five Llechryd Thirds were dismissed for 80 by Pembroke Dock Seconds, with Rob Masfield unbeaten on 44. Pembroke Dock won by ten wickets as Anton John (36 not out) and Luke Murray (41 not out) guided their side to a solid victory.
