A total of 155 for 8 posted by South Wales Cricket Association division one leaders Llandysul was not enough in their top of the table clash with Llanelli at Tir-Dref.

The visitors knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets to climb above the Teifisiders to the summit.

Defeat resulted in Llandysul dropping to third, 17 points behind the new pacesetters, and six adrift of second-placed Dafen Welfare.

The Teifi Valley side will be hoping for better fortune this coming Saturday when hosting bottom side Skewen, while Llanelli will go to fifth in the table Maesteg.

The homesters lost Bleddyn Morgan, bowled by seamer Steve Devonald without bothering the scorers, and but for opener Ieuan Paske, Gary Williams at four and skipper Ben Edkins at five the remainder of the batsmen failed to make their mark.

Paske was caught for 19, but Williams compiled a fine innings of 51 in 107 balls, with four fours, and Edkins made 36, including five boundaries.

Devonald did the damage in taking four wickets for 20 in ten overs, Alex Symmons took 2 for 18 from his 10 overs, and Jac Rees took 1 for 38.

In reply, the opening partnership of Iwan Rees and Owain Baxter shared a stand of 36, before the former was bowled by Arfon Jones for 20.

Steve Devonald at first wicket down carried on with the bat where he left off with the ball in sylishly scoring an unbeaten 55 off 57 balls, which included eight fours.

Baxer was bowled for a patient 37, with three boundaries, by Llewelyn Hughes, but Rhidian Morgan at four was unbeaten on 23 as he and Devonald saw their side safely home in the 36th over for the loss of two wickets.

In division five Llandysul Seconds achieved victory by eight runs away against their Drefach counterparts.

Llandysul were dismissed for 161 in 39 overs but they then bowled out the home side for 153 in 39.3 overs.
