Cardigan Bowling Club star Kevin James has been selected for the Wales Commonwealth Games squad as they prepare for the 2022 showpiece in Birmingham next summer.

The former British Isles singles winner and popular Cardigan postie, attended a second trial day in Llandrindod Wells recently.

The initial squad of 12 was cut down to eight for a series of test matches planned for later in the year.

This group of players will then face an agonising wait as the selectors whittle the squad down to just five when Wales go for gold next summer. All matches will be played at Leamington Spa.

There was further good news for Ceredigion bowlers as the Lampeter BC Trio of Anwen and Alis Butten and Melanie Thomas also made the cut in the Women’s team.

Katie Thomas of Whitland BC and Ysie White of Tenby are also included in a strong representation from West Wales.
