DAVID Dunfee took an incredible eight wickets to raise Llechryd’s hopes of a first win in the Pembrokeshire Cricket League division one – but they failed to reach a winning target of 79 against St Ishmaels.

Seamer Dunfee tore through the hosts’ batting line-up to return stunning figures of 8 wickets for 16 runs – but after bowling out St Ishmaels for 78, Llechryd were skittled out for 56 – crashing to a 22-run defeat.

Danny Richards had carried his bat for a fine innings of 45 not out for the hosts, which included three sixes and two fours, and Llechryd then pressed the self-destruct button, with a steady procession of batsmen back to the pavilion.

Skipper John Curran fell for 8, Adam Betts made 7, and only Ollie Roberts and Joe Mansfield, who scored 11 runs apiece, managed to make double figures.

The damage was caused by medium-pacer Jonathan Pawlett, who snapped five wickets for 13 runs, and his cousin, left-arm spinner Andrew Pawlett took 2-15.

Crymych versus Lawrenny Seconds and Llechryd Seconds and Carew Thirds were rained off, as was the game between Hundleton and Llechryd Thirds .

This Saturday, 22 May, Llechryd will host Cresselly, Llechryd Seconds visit Llanrhian Seconds, and Llechryd Thirds go to Whitland Thirds. Crymych host Saundersfoot Seconds.
