Wycombe Wanderers has said it trusts that the independent body will make the correct decision in Derby County’s Financial Fair Play case.

This comes after media speculation that Wycombe are looking to take legal action after the EFL won its appeal against Derby County for breaching Financial Fair Play.

The club have today denied that are looking at legal action at this time.

If Derby were to be given a points deduction, that came into effect this season, it would see the Chairboys move out of the relegation places.

The Rams sit one point in front of Wycombe and anything more than a two points deduction would see the club avoid relegation after the final day of the season.

The club said in a statement: "This news came to light last week, and the club knew that a victory at Middlesbrough could – and ultimately did – enable Wycombe Wanderers to finish 22nd in the table, one place below Derby.

"We applaud the outstanding efforts of the staff and team during their 3-0 victory.

"To finish on 43 points, and above two other teams, is a creditable achievement given the relative tight financial restraints that the club has operated under during the 2020/21 season.

"We expect our opponents to do the same."
