North Pembrokeshire duo Liz Thomas and Sarah Hinton are taking part in a three-month interactive cycling challenge, culminating in cycling the 71 mile (114km) Iron man loop on Sunday, June 28.

Liz, who works in Eglwyswrw school, and Sarah Hinton, who works at KiwiKit Ltd in Crymych, teamed up last year and started cycling together.

Coming out of the second lockdown they teamed up again and decided to take on a challenge and raise money for two great charities – Crymych First responders and Women V Cancer (Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, Breast Cancer Now & Ovarian Cancer Action).

The challenge involves increasing the mileage over the three months, and so far they have cycled over 150 miles during April and now aim to increase the mileage to 200 miles for May, and finally 300 miles during June.

Whatever the weather Liz and Sarah will be cycling, hopefully out on the roads but if need be – only if torrential rain or gale force winds – they will be on the bike trainers indoors.

They are happy to take on recommended routes from those who donate, but ask for people to be kind with their choice as there are hills round every corner in west Wales!

You can follow their progress on their Facebook page at 'Ladies Who Like to Ride'.
