WALKERS along the Ceredigion Coast Path at Llangrannog’s Urdd Camp have expressed outrage at the amount of plastic littering the site.
One woman, who declined to give her name, said she had been concerned that the litter emanating from a nearby compound would end up in the sea.
“Plastic and polythene were strewn around,” she told the Tivy-Side. “We tried picking up as much as we could but the building site was full of it.
“It’s a disgrace – it’s despoiling one of the most beautiful stretches of our coast path.”
Lowri Jones, director of Urdd Gobaith Cymru, said they had been made aware of the fact that some rubbish had been blown away from a secure compound ‘due to unforeseen weather conditions’.
“Once notified the contractors reacted immediately and dispatched their team to clear all debris and ensure everything was cleared,” she added. “The rubbish containers have been made secure to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
“We would like to thank our loyal volunteers and members of the public who notified and helped the contractors.
“The coastal path is ingrained in the centre’s history, and we will forever be guardians of its cultural and environmental heritage.”
