DETAILS of pedestrianisation schemes in Cardigan and three other Ceredigion towns will be published once a “few awkward challenges” are dealt with.
Ceredigion council’s chief executive told cabinet on Tuesday that officers were “working on the details at the moment” before the reintroduction of ‘Safe Zones’ in Cardigan, New Quay, Aberaeron and Cardigan before the Easter holidays.
There were some public objections to the road closures associated with the scheme, designed to make social distancing easier, with a petition from Cardigan residents received by cabinet at its last meeting.
Opposition leader Cllr Ceredig Davies asked for an update on the plans at Tuesday’s meeting and Mr Evans said “we don’t have a definite date for when we will be publishing the information, hopefully this week we will be starting to spread the news about he plans for Easter.
“There are a few awkward challenges to deal with in the next few days.”
The council previously announced that new measure will be introduced from March 29 to April 17 in response to the easing of lockdown restrictions.
“There are a number of changes being made to reflect feedback to the surveys undertaken between October and December 2020. Implementing some measures now will allow the Council to see whether the new changes work and to further review between Easter and summer,” a spokesman had said.
