A CARDIGAN driver caught without insurance and no MOT test certificate for his car must pay more than £500 in fines and costs.

David Eli Hird, of Fishguard Road, Cardigan, pleaded guilty to the two charges after being caught in the town on May 16 last year.

Magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre fined the 23-year-old a total of £400 along with prosecution costs of £85 and a £34 victim surcharge. The bench accepted mitigation not to endorse Hird’s licence.
