A LLANDYSUL driver has escaped being disqualified under the totting up procedure after admitting speeding.

Melinda Jane Goodale, of Cambrian Terrace, Llandysul, pleaded guilty to driving at 46mph in a 30mph area at Penglais Hill, Aberystwyth, on August 14 last year.

Magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre fined the 40-year-old £80, along with £90 prosecution costs and a £34 victim surcharge when she appeared before the court.

Four points were added to her licence but magistrates decided not to disqualify Goodale from driving under the totting up process.

The bench ruled it would cause exceptional hardship as Goodale acts as a carer and any disqualification would have a huge impact on her ability to look after her family.
